Note: If EITHER the Carrollton City Schools or Carroll County Schools close due to weather, the Soup Kitchen will also close.

How do I volunteer for the Soup Kitchen? -- You can call the Soup Kitchen (770-214-5055), email us (ccsoupkitchen@att.net), or just show up by 8:15 a.m. Monday through Friday of the last full week of each month**. Please click on the Calendar tab to see the dates. The Monday/Thursday lunches require only 10 to 12 volunteers and generally have plenty of help.  They can often use help cleaning up after lunch. Come at 11:00 to eat and then stay until 1:00 to help clean up--individual volunteers only, and no community service workers, please.

Our full week of service needs about 30 volunteers per day. If you want to volunteer, please come during our full week of service.

Groups? Groups may be scheduled only during the last full week of the month. Please email ccsoupkitchen@att.net to schedule a group; limit the group to 8 people. School-age groups (ages 14 - 15) should have adult supervision; other groups should have one person designated as the contact person. Please email to schedule a group a month in advance.

Do I need to bring anything? -- Just bring a smile! If you would rather not wear a hairnet, please bring a ball cap to wear. For safety reasons, please wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty, but no tank tops or short-shorts, please.

What will I do? -- During our full week, sandwiches are prepared and bags of lunches for shut-ins are readied for delivery. Help is needed in the kitchen where our delicious hot lunches are made. Sometimes canned goods need to be sorted, items to give away need to be bagged...there is always something that needs doing!

What about children volunteering? -- Children ages 12 to 14 accompanied by parents are welcome to volunteer. Unaccompanied children should be at least 15 years old. No one under 16 may work in the kitchen (cooking) area.

What about court-mandated community service hours? -- Court-mandated community service volunteers are allowed at the discretion of the Soup Kitchen Board of Directors or the volunteers in charge. Community service volunteers will be scheduled only for the last full week of service. Please email the Soup Kitchen to arrange for scheduling court-mandated community service hours. Community service volunteers are expected to arrive at the Soup Kitchen by 8 a.m. and stay until we close at 1 p.m.

For more information, please email us at ccsoupkitchen@att.net or call the Soup Kitchen at 770.214.5055 and leave a message.
